I painted this without references so that I could create my own unique fantasy world. The simple composition is based on the fantasy art styles of the late seventies and early eighties. I feel this is probably more my natural style anyway like the last one I posted here and the 'uplift universe' one I did for the competition last year. 95% artrage and about 5% paintshop pro

This took a little longer than normal to complete as my horse anatomy is a little rusty and I had to brush up on it first. I created the back ramp in psp but the rest is completely artrage. I painted this one in Acrylic, I think it took around four to five hours as I remember doing it in one sitting. Sometimes it just nice to keep your hand in especially when you paint digitally eighty percent of the time. The title and poem is from old-english.

Painted in paintshop pro in greyscale, then coloured afterwards. Painted with a round brush kept at 30% opacity and added little touches with a single texture brush in a splatter shape at the end. Here's a quote from JFK that I thought appropriate.. Thought I'd try the same technique I use for my time-lapse portraits on this caricature of Humphrey Bogart. I painted him in paintshop pro with two custom brushes and the normal round brush and airbrush.

I thought that I'd try a caricature of Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone for fun. I painted the whole thing in paintshop pro and hatched out the skin texture to keep it from being too airbrushed. I liked the idea of keeping it all in B&W and only doing the rose in colour like they do on the film/game cover.
